FAQ : RADIO FREQUENCY
Radio Frequency Treatment Pure RF energy alone or RF in combination with other methods can be used in treatments to effectively contour the body and reduce the appearance of cellulite and fat. With deep, controlled heating of the fatty layers under the skin, the effects of tissue tightening and increased blood circulation mean that fatty deposits are drained through the lymphatic system, reducing the appearance of cellulite. Based on current RF technologies, most people should see at least a mild improvement in their skin tone, with a temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite and possible inch loss, with minimal risks and downtime. RF Treatments Combined with Other Med Aesthetic Procedures Multipolar RF can also be used in conjunction with ultrasound cavitation to aid in further fat breakdown and also to tighten the skin in the same area the cavitation treatment has taken place. RF treatments are sometimes combined with other med aesthetic treatments as a complementary measure intended to achieve improved skin complexion. A good example is the use of RF technology following laser or other types of hair reduction procedures. RF cavitation, also known as RF body sculpting, is another non-invasive med aesthetic procedure involving the use of RF technology. Top med aesthetic equipment manufacturers have incorporated RF capabilities into multiple technology machines. Such devices make it easy to administer RF face treatments and other RF either independently or in combination with other med aesthetic treatments. There is no doubt that the RF treatment is here to stay. New treatment protocols are regularly developed allowing med aesthetic practices to offer ever improving face treatments and other types of skin as well as body contouring procedures involving the use of this technology. What is Radio-frequency? Radio-frequency (RF) energy treatment is a technology for non-surgical tightening of the early signs of loose or sagging skin; ideal for those people who either don’t want, or don’t believe they should have a surgical procedure. RF Treatments is a safe, noninvasive way to shave years off your skin’s appearance. RF energy when used for skin tightening is able to penetrate deep into the skin and affect the deeper dermis and subcutaneous layers, causing tightening and improvements to the underlying tissue structure, but with little change in skin texture or fine lines and wrinkling. Based on current RF technologies available, most people should see at least a mild improvement in their skin tightness, with minimal risks and downtime compared to surgery. If you are considering an RF treatment, the following information will give you a basic understanding of the procedure. It can't answer all your questions, since a lot depends on the individual patient and the practitioner. Please ask to your practitioner about anything you don't understand. What can Radio-frequency (RF) energy treat in your face/body? RF it is commonly used to treat the forehead (lift brows and tightens forehead skin), under the eyes (thickens skin and tightens and lifts the upper cheek skin), cheeks (lifts slightly and diminishes enlarged pores), mid-face, jaw line (diminishes yowling and sagging along the jaw line), and the neck (tightens skin and diminishes wrinkling of the neck). However, if there is a significant amount of redundant or sagging skin, often seen in older patients over sixty, this procedure may not show a significant enough improvement and a traditional mid-face, face or brow lift operation may be recommended in order to remove the excess skin, therefore achieving a better result. In combination with other methods RF can be used to enhance a variety of treatments including hair removal, photo rejuvenation, pigmented and vascular problems, acne treatment and cellulite treatment. RADIO-FREQUENCY: HOW IT WORKS The RF hand piece is slowly rotated over the target area transmitting radio waves through the upper layers of the skin to the dermis, heating the dermis to between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius without burning the skin surface. The currents passed cause heat to build up in the skin tissue. This heat works to contract the dermis (the upper skin layer) resulting in wrinkle reduction (some wrinkles are eliminated all together). RF delivers energy deep into dermal tissues. This heating action causes deep collagen structures in the skin to immediately tighten. Over time, new collagen is produced by the body to further tighten the skin. Another important beneficial effect of the radio frequency treatment is the stimulation of increased collagen and elastin production as well as increased blood circulation. These result in overall skin rejuvenation lasting for months. Tissue Retraction: The generated heat causes local contraction of the collagen fibers, to immediately tighten the skin. New Collagen Formation: By heating the dermis, new collagen production is stimulated. This tightening effect is delayed and may take from 3-6 months to be visible. Improved Circulation: RF will also improve the blood and lymphatic flow. This helps with a better oxygen supply and greater toxin clearance to further reduce the effects of aging. Monopolar (also called Unipolar) Monopolar or unipolar refers to a device having one pole or electrode. With mono-polar delivery, the current from the generating machine flows through the body from a single electrode (hand-piece) and meets maximum resistance in the area around the tip of the hand-piece, where tissue heating in the sub-dermal layers then occurs. Grounding, or “return pad” may also be used, attached to the patient’s lower back or abdomen, to provide a low resistance path for the current to flow back to the generating machine, to complete the electrical circuit. Mono-pole treatments deliver the RF currents through deeper lying layers of skin (up to 20 mm below the skin's surface). At Vanina Inner Beauty we work from Bio-polar to Multi-polar. Bio-polar refers to a device having two poles or electrodes. With bipolar delivery, the current from the generating machine flows only through the tissue which is between the two electrodes on the hand piece; these electrodes start and complete the electrical circuit. Hence, with bipolar delivery, no current flows through the rest of the body, so no grounding or return pad is needed. In all cases of radio-frequency delivery types, it is the resistance to the current flow in the tissue, not the electrode that generates the heating effect.Bipolar treatments heat skin tissue only 2-4 mm deep. RF can also be used in conjunction with ultrasound cavitation to aid in further fat breakdown and also to tightens the skin in the same area the cavitation treatment has taken place. Tri-Polar radio frequency uses mono-polar and bipolar devices which utilize one or two poles to conduct the RF energy, Tri-Polar RF is claimed to be the only radio frequency technology in the world that simultaneously combines the effects of mono and bi-polar radio frequency in a single treatment, which the manufacturers claim produces better results with less pain. Multi-polar RF technology offer a new promising treatment for body sculpting, anti-aging and skin tightening. It rejuvenates; improve elasticity and tone of the body skin. High radio frequency wave permeates epidermis and take effect on the collagen-rich dermal tissue directly which makes water molecules in the skin move to and for wildly. The move produces controllable heat and results in contraction of collagen and generation of new collagen and dermal remodeling. As a result, it tightens the skin, reduces wrinkles, eliminates orange peel skin and boosts the overall condition on areas of the body such as the face, chin and jaw line, upper arm, bra line, abdomen, love handles, thighs, muffin top, or buttocks. RF is best suited to patients with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, usually those in their mid-thirties to fifties, with any skin type. Radio Frequency Treatment Radio frequency technology is used in med aesthetics in several capacities, most commonly with face treatments. RF It is commonly used to treat the forehead, under the eyes, cheeks, mid-face, jaw line, and neck. Other treatments involving RF technology are body contouring. Pure RF energy alone or RF in combination with other methods can be used in treatments to effectively contour the body and reduce the appearance of cellulite and fat. Prices for RF depend on the area(s) treated and the device used. So far as face treatments go the RF treatment has become known as the "RF face lift" or "RF facial", due to its wrinkle reduction and overall skin rejuvenation capabilities. With the introduction of the med aesthetic radio frequency treatment a safer, easier to endure, less expensive alternative to face lifts became available. RF face treatments are conducted in 30 to 60 minute sessions, usually a series of some 8-12 to eight treatments is recommended, one to three weeks apart. No recovery time is needed after a radio frequency treatment! You can just get up and go on with your daily routines. Results become apparent immediately but their maximum effect is visible some two months after the treatment cycle is over. Results last for years and treatments may be undergone again when necessary.
